BROTHER PRINTERS CHEQUE MATE FRAUDSTERS
Brother laser printers have passed the test when it comes to beating
cheque fraudsters.
Two of the company's mono laser printer
range achieved standards demanded by the Association for Payment Clearing
Services (APACS) guaranteeing resistance to cheque tampering.
Brother's HL-5150D and
HL-5170DN
both passed the APACS/Pira certification following a test of 60 print-outs
from each machine, confirming the ink's resistance to thirteen risk
categories, including bleach, tape and scalpels.
Cheque fraud
has increased in recent years, with the most common problem being alterations
made to printed cheques, including forged signatures, changes to payee
names and amounts using various ink removal techniques.
The
printers have already been specified for their fraud-proof capabilities
by Cornwall County Council Local Education Authority.
Chris
Hinds, marketing communications manager, Brother UK, said: "We
are pleased to have gained this highly regarded accreditation."
